Fiction Flashback: The Girl With All The Gifts

Start your week of with some older titles that deserve a second look

The Girl With All the Gifts

by M.R. Carey

This is one of my favorite book titles, ever.  I love it.  When I saw the cover, I picked up the book without even flipping to the first page and I wasn’t at all disappointed.  Sure, this is another entry in the seemingly inexhaustible “end of the world zombie fiction” category, but it’s written from the perspective of the zombie – a little girl

It’s great!

Girl with all the gifts

What’s it about?

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her “our little genius.”

Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite, but they don’t laugh.
The Girl With All the Gifts is a groundbreaking thriller, emotionally charged and gripping from beginning to end.
